Roughriders Sign Four American Players

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have officially signed four new players such as American defensive linemen Brayden Thomas and Caleb Sanders, American wide receiver John Ursua and American defensive back Tedric Thompson, according to an official team announcement.

Thomas signed with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent following the 2022 NFL Draft and spent the majority of the season on the team’s practice squad. Thomas was elevated to the main roster for one game back in December.

Sanders attended rookie camp with the New York Giants following the 2023 NFL Draft and spent 2023 training camp with the Philadelphia Eagles. Sanders was named a team captain and earned Associated Press FCS All-America First-Team honors at South Dakota State University. Ursua was selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the seventh round, 236th overall, of the 2019 NFL Draft and would go on to spend three seasons with the team both on the active roster and on the practice squad.

Thompson was also selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the fourth round, 111th overall, of the 2017 NFL Draft and would go on to play three seasons with the franchise as well, playing in a total of 29 games where he collected 80 tackles, three interceptions, five pass knockdowns, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries.

Thompson also spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs, Cleveland Browns, Denver Broncos, and the Tennessee Titans.
