Redblacks’ Abdul Kanneh Out For Season

ottawa redblacks

Ottawa Redblacks veteran defensive back Abdul Kanneh will miss the remainder of the current season due to a broken hand and is scheduled to undergo surgery, according to TSN 1200’s AJ Jakubec.

Kanneh, 33, has started all 13 games for the Redblacks at field-side halfback this season and made 38 tackles and one interception.

Kanneh arrived in the CFL back in 2014 following a run at the NFL level where he had a stint with the Cleveland Browns. Kanneh also spent some time with the Arena Football League.

Kanneh, as CFL journalists will point out, played three seasons with the Redblacks before stints with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (2017) and Toronto Argonauts (2018-19), before ultimately returning to the Redblacks in free agency back in 2020.

Kanneh is a two-time East Division all-star and one-time CFL all-star and has played 107 career CFL games and recorded 353 tackles, 20 interceptions, seven sacks, eight forced fumbles, and one defensive touchdown.

Kanneh was a part of the Redblacks Grey Cup championship team back in 2016.
