The Detroit Red Wings have acquired forward Brendan Perlini from the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday.
Pelini, 23, played in just one game for the Blackhawks this season and failed to earn a roster spot out of training camp. Chicago will receive Alec Pegula from the Red Wings as part of the deal, and are not obligated to retain any of Perlini’s salary.
This marks the second time that Perlini has been traded in his young career, which isn’t often a good indication. Despite a solid first two seasons of his career, where he scored 31 goals in that time, Perlini has struggled to make an impact, and stay on a roster.
