Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitchell Marner won’t be discussing a new contract with the Leafs during the regular season, preferring to hold negotiations following the season.
Marner, 21, is currently tied for eighth in the NHL this season with 55 points and tied for fifth in the league with 40 assists, and is set to his restricted free agency on July 1st.
According to Marner’s agent, Darren Ferris, Marner is going to wait until the offseason to talk a new deal.
“Yes, 100 percent,” Ferris said Tuesday in a text to The Athletic. “Mitch wants to concentrate on this season.”
