The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed former New York Islanders captain John Tavares to a seven-year contract, according to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman.
Tavares, 27, comes home to Toronto, where he grew up and has an offseason home, and leaves the Islanders, the only franchise he has ever played for.
