The Vegas Golden Knights have claimed Ryan Carpenter off of waivers, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.
Carpenter was placed on waivers yesterday by the San Jose Sharks.
It’s a curious move for Las Vegas who have 23 players on their active roster as of right now and do not have a clear need for Carpenter.
Las Vegas has been scouting Carpenter since before the NHL expansion draft but weren’t able to select him in the draft because San Jose a protection slot on him, according to TSN insider Pierre LeBrun.
