Sabres’ Kyle Okposo Says ‘Get your sh– together’ After Moulson Waived

The Buffalo Sabres put veteran winger Matt Moulson on waivers on Monday and the move apparently sent a message to Kyle Okposo.

“Get your sh– together,” Okposo said, per John Vogl of the Buffalo News.

The Sabres are struggling and currently enduring a 4-game slid so the move may have been a message from the organization to players that the season needs to turn around, and turn around fast.

“We’ve got to win some games,” Okposo stated.

“That’s what happens in the business. If you don’t win games, if you don’t have results, good people pay the price for it.

“Myself included, I’ve got to pick my game up. Everybody’s got to pick their games up. We’ve got to find ways to win.”

The Buffalo Sabres have named Jack Eichel team captain, becoming the 28th captain in franchise history and the first player to wear the ‘C’ since Brian Gionta did from 2014 to 2017, as the team did not name a captain last season.

Eichel signed an eight-year, $80-million contract extension last season and has led Buffalo in points each of the last 2 years.

Predators Acquire Nick Baptiste from Sabres for Jack Dougherty

The Nashville Predators have acquired forward Nick Baptiste from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for defenseman Jack Doughtery in a trade that was announced by both teams on Monday.

Baptiste appeared in 33 games for the Sabres last season, scoring 4 goals and notching 2 assists. Baptiste was Buffalo’s 2013 third-round draft pick.

Dougherty has played the past 2 seasons with the Milwaukee Admirals, Nashville’s AHL affiliate team, where he registered 1 goal and picked up 11 assists over 63 games with the team last season.

Sabres Re-Sign Sam Reinhart

The Buffalo Sabres have re-signed forward Sam Reinhart to a two-year deal that pays $3.65 million annually, according to an official team press release.

Reinhart set new career highs in games played (82), goals (25), points (50), power-play goals (12) and power-play points (21) during the 2017-18 regular season.
