Stars’ Marc Methot, Martin Hanzal To Miss Time

The Dallas Stars will be without Marc Mathot and Martin Hanzal for some time.

Methot will miss four to six weeks after having his knee scoped today, the team announced on Monday.

Hanzal won’t be out as long as Methot as he will miss three to seven days with a hand injury.

Dallas recalled defenseman Julius Honka in a corresponding move.

Stars to Sign Jake Oettinger

The Dallas Stars will be landing one of the top goaltending prospects as they are expected to sign Boston University’s Jake Oettinger, according to The Athletic’s Sean Shapiro.

Per the report, Oettinger will join the Texas Stars on an amateur tryout, and sign a three-year entry-level contract with Dallas that begins in 2019-20.

The city of Dallas is expected to be announced as the host of the 2020 Winter Classic outdoor game, according to Sportsnet’s John Shannon.

While the Dallas Stars will be one of the teams playing in the annual game, the report indicates that the team they will be facing is not known at this time.

An announcement is expected tomorrow.

Stars Acquire Connor Carrick from Maple Leafs

The Dallas Stars have acquired defenseman Connor Carrick from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for a conditional seventh-round draft pick in the 2019 NHL draft, both teams announced on Monday.

The draft pick can become a sixth-rounder should Carrick play in more than 50 games for the Stars this season.
