Blues’ Jay Bouwmeester Out Rest Of Season

The St. Louis Blues will have to make their playoff push without the services of defenseman Jay Bouwmeester who will miss the remainder of the season due to a hip injury, according to a team announcement.

Bouwmeester, who has been dealing with the issue for a bit of time, exited Saturday’s game against the Dallas Stars.

St.Louis is hopeful that the 34-year old 15-year veteran will be ready for the beginning of the 2018-19 season.

The St. Louis Blues have placed Jakub Jerabek on waivers, according to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman.

Jerabek played in one game for St. Louis since coming over for the Edmonton Oilers prior to the start of the regular season.

Blues Land Jakub Jerabek in Trade with Oilers

The St. Louis Blues have acquired defenseman Jakub Jerabek via trade from the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for a condition sixth-round draft pick in 2020, the team officially announced on Monday.

The draft pick could escalate to a fifth-rounder if Jerabek plays in more than 50 regular season games for the Blues this season.

Jerabek signed a one-year, $1 million contract with Edmonton back in August.

Blues Sign Jordan Schmaltz to 2-Year Deal

The St. Louis Blues has agreed to terms on a two-year contract with defenseman Jordan Schmaltz, according to a team announcement on Wednesday.

Schmaltz’s new deal will  pay him $700,000 at the NHL level and $150,000 in the American Hockey League in the first year of the deal, and will become a one-way contract after that and pay him $700,000.

Schmaltz poured in five goals and 23 points over 31 games with the San Antonio Rampage in the AHL last season.
