The City of Canada Bay will join hundreds of other cities from around the globe on Friday, June 21st, in a global celebration of music.
“Make Music Day is a wonderful celebration of music and creativity that provides local musicians an opportunity to showcase their talent,” City of Canada Bay Mayor Michael Megna said, according to an official press release.
“This is the seventh year in a row our Council has taken part in Make Music Day. We play an important role in supporting creatives and this event is the perfect way to platform and promote our local performers.”
Make Music Day, which launched back in 1982 in France as the Fête de la Musique, is now being held on the same day as in more than 750 cities across 120 countries around the world and is a DIY music festival and anyone who wants to take part, allowing people to organize their own event or work with the City of Canada Bay to share their music with more people.
This year music lovers, makers and performers can get involved by:
- Registering to busk in the town centres of Drummoyne, Concord, Five Dock or Rhodes.
- Submitting a video performance to win a paid on-stage performance at Ferragosto 2024.
- Taking part in a free drumming workshop and musical instrument making at the piazza on Majors Bay Road in Concord from 3–5pm.
- Enjoying live community performances across the City.
