The Toronto Maple Leafs have placed goaltenders Curtis McElhinney and Calvin Pickard on waivers Monday, according to an official team announcement.
McElhinney played in backup role for Toronto over the past two seasons, posting a .934 save percentage in 18 appearances in 2017-18, while Pickard played in just one game for the Leafs following their acquisition of him, via trade, last October.
With the moves, the Leafs will now hand the backup job to Garrett Sparks, who earned top goalie honors in the AHL last season, posting 936 save percentage and a 31-9-1 record.
