Red Wings Sign Tyler Bertuzzi, Martin Frk To Contract Extensions

The Detroit Red Wings have been busy on this Monday, signing wingers Tyler Bertuzzi and Martin Frk to contract extensions, according to a team announcement.

Frk scored 11 goals and 14 assists in 68 games for Detroit last season.

Bertuzzi split the season between Grand Rapids of the AHL and Detroit, scoring 7 goals to go along with 17 assists over 48 games.

Red Wings Acquire Brendan Perlini

The Detroit Red Wings have acquired forward Brendan Perlini from the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday.

Pelini, 23, played in just one game for the Blackhawks this season and failed to earn a roster spot out of training camp. Chicago will receive Alec Pegula from the Red Wings as part of the deal, and are not obligated to retain any of Perlini’s salary.

This marks the second time that Perlini has been traded in his young career, which isn’t often a good indication. Despite a solid first two seasons of his career, where he scored 31 goals in that time, Perlini has struggled to make an impact, and stay on a roster.

Red Wings Hire Steve Yzerman

The Detroit Red Wings have hired franchise icon and former Tampa Bay Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman to take over the post as their general manager.

Current general manager, Ken Holland, will move to a position called Senior Vice President and has inked a multi-year contract extension to remain with the club, according to TSN’s Gord Miller.

Yzerman stepped down from his role as GM of the Lightning in September but he is largely responsible for building the roster that led Tampa Bay to a President’s Cup this season, matching the NHL record for wins in a single season, posting a 62-16-4 record this past season.

Yzerman could be bringing some members of the Lightning front office to Detroit with him, according to TSN’s Bob McKenzie.

Red Wings Agree To Terms With Filip Larsson

The Detroit Red Wings have agreed to terms on a three-year entry-level contract with Filip Karsson.

The deal officially kicks in for the 2019-2020 season which means the Larsson will not be returning to play for the University of Denver for his sophmore season.

Larsson had posted shutouts in the opening two rounds of the Frozen Four tournament but the Denver Pioneers were eliminated by UMass.
