Hurricanes Hire Jeff Daniels As Assistant Coach

The Carolina Hurricans announced that they hvae hired Jeff Daniels as an assistant coach, and he will join head coach Rod Brind’Amour behind the bench for the 2018-19 season.

Daniels was a member of the Hurricanes’ coaching staff when the team won the Stanley Cup back i 2006, with Brind’Amour as captain.

“Jeff has served as a head coach in the American Hockey League, and of course won the ultimate prize as an assistant on the NHL level” Carolina general manager Don Waddell said in a statement.

“Rod has played with and under Jeff, so he has a great understanding for the experience and knowledge that he brings to the table.

Hurricanes’ Jordan Staal Activated From Injured Reserve

The Carolina Hurricanes will be getting some help soon as they will get forward Jordan Staal, who suffered a concussion earlier this month back and who hasn’t played since December 5th, officially activating the veteran key player from the injured reserve.

Carolina is trying to gain ground in the Metropolitan Division and with Staal back in the fold they are more equipped to make a push.

Hurricanes’ Valentin Zykov Assigned To AHL On Conditioning Loan

Carolina Hurricanes forward Valentin Zykov has been heavily shopped on the trade market as of later, but without any deals in the works the Hurricanes have decided that they will assign Zykov to the minors on a conditioning loan.

By doing so, Zykov, 23, will still be able to play with a professional team, the Charlotte Checkers, as the Hurricanes continue to find a deal. Zykov has appeared in only 13 games for Carolina this season, notching less than 10 minutes of ice time on average.
