Canucks’ Olli Juolevi To Undergo Back Surgery

Vancouver Canucks defenseman prospect Olli Juolevi will undergo a microdiscectomy procedure for a disc in his lower back, the team officially announced on Monday.

Juolevi began experiencing discomfort during offseason training and after consulting with the team’s medical staff, they decided on the durgery.

While Juolevi was the 5th overall pick in the 2016 draft, he has failed to live up to expectations and is the only player selected in the Top 11 spots in that draft that has yet to appear in the NHL.

Canucks’ Prospect Michael DiPietro Traded In OHL

After being names to the Team Canada World Junior selection camp on Monday, Vancouver Canucks goaltending prospect has been traded by the Windsor Spitfires to the Ottawa 67’s in exchange that includes forward Egor Afanasyev and seven draft picks, according to the team’s official website.

DiPietro, 19, was selected 64th overall in the 2017 draft and is considered one of the top goaltending prospects in the league, and he owns a .920 save percentage through 21 games.

Canucks’ Brandon Sutter Out 4-6 Weeks with Separated Shoulder

The Vancouver Cancucks will be without forward Brandon Sutter for at least 4-6 weeks due to a separated shoulder that he suffered while crashing into the boards during a penalty kill in the second period of Monday night’s game, according to TSN’s Farhan Lalji.

The initial timeline is a “best case scenario” and it is possible that Sutter could miss more the 4-6 weeks of action.

Sutter has recorded three goals and one assist this season for Vancouver.

Flames’ Travis Hamonic Suffers Facial Fracture During Fight

Calgary Flames defenseman Travis Hamonic will be out of action for a bit after he suffered a facial fracture during a fight with Vancouver Canucks defenseman Erik Gudbranson on opening night, the team officially announced on Friday.

In a corresponding move, the Flames called up defenseman Rasmus Anderson from the AHL to fill the empty roster spot.

Hamonic and Gudbranson got into it only 4:22 into the first period.
