Jets’ Paul Stastny Open To Re-Signing

Winnipeg Jets’ Paul Stastny, who is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this summer,  is open to re-signing with the team, according to Postmedia’s Ken Wiebe.

“Every door is open” Stastyn said.

“I never look that far down the road, because in the past I’ve done that. You think something is going to happen. It doesn’t.

There is always a possibility. I have no regrets. Probably the best decision I ever made was this one. It made the game that much more fun again.”

The Jets acquired Stastny from the St. Louis Blues back at February’s trade deadline.

Lightning Shopping Slater Koekkoek

The Tampa Bay Lightning are shopping defenseman, and former first round pick, Slater Koekkoek, according to SportsNet’s Elliotte Friedman.

Tampa Bay is now motivated to trade away their once prized prospect, who is currently playing with the Syracuse Crunch on a conditioning stint.

Koekkoek is waiver eligible and will become a restricted free agent with arbitration rights in the summer of 2019.

While the Dallas Stars will be one of the teams playing in the annual game, the report indicates that the team they will be facing is not known at this time.

An announcement is expected tomorrow.

The Tampa Bay Lightning are making progress on a long-term contract extension for head coach Jon Cooper, according to The Athletic’s Joe Smith.

Tampa Bay has a number of players set to hit unrestricted free agency in 2019 and Cooper is in the final year of his contract, and Cooper has been a big success in Tampa Bay.

During Cooper’s stint, the Lightning have reached the Eastern Conference Final three times.
