Toronto Maple Leafs president Brendan Shanahan recently announced the decision to transition Lou Lamoriello from his role as general manager into a senior advisor position only 10 days ago, but there appears to be a hiccup.
According to The Athletic’s Arthur Staple, the legendary front-office exec has no intention of filling that role leading to “an avalanche of chatter regarding Lamoriello’s inevitable arrival on Long Island.”
The news is interesting considering that last month New York’s co-owner Jon Ledecky said he would be re-evaluating all aspects of the organization, including the unpopular general manager Garth Snow.
Additionally, Lamoriello’s son, Chris, has been serving as the Isles’ director of player personnel since August of 2016, making the link between the exec and the Isles even stronger.
