The Philadelphia Flyers will be without goaltender Brian Elliot for 5-6 weeks after he underwent core muscle surgery on Tuesday, according to an announcement from the team.
Elliot suffered the injury on Saturday during the Flyers’ shootout victory over the Arizona Coyotes after falling awkwardly following a stick to the mask from Clayton Keller.
Philadelphia will not turn to Michal Neuvirth, along with Alex Lyon, to mind the net during Elliot’s absence.
Elliot posted a 2.72 goals-against average and .908 save percentage through 41 games in his first season with the Flyers.
