Jets’ Goalie Connor Hellebuyck Leads 3 Stars Of The Week Honors

Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck, Vegas Golden Knights center William Karlsson and Boston Bruins right winger David Backes have been named the NHL’s “Three Stars” for the week ending the 2017 calendar year.

Hellebuyck went 3-0-0 with a 1.67 goals-against average, .952 save percentage and one shutout and his performance has the Jets sitting atop the Central Division.

Las Vegas’ Karlsson notched 4-1-5 in three games to help the Golden Knights to one heck of a week.

Backes paced the NHL with 3-3-6 in three games and the Boston Bruins to a 2-0-1 week.

Bruins’ Patrice Bergeron Out Up to a Month

Boston Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron will miss around to a month of action with a rib and sternoclavicular injury, and will be re-evaluated in four weeks, the team officially announced on Tuesday.

Bergeron, 33, suffered the injury during Friday night’s game against the Dallas Stars when he took a hit into the boards during second period action. Although he did remain in the game, he was in “serious” pain, according to NESN’s Lauren Campbell.

Bergeron has posted nine goals and a team-high 26 points in 19 games this season for Boston.

Bruins’ Tuukka Rask Rejoins Team, Jakub Zboril Recalled

The Boston Bruins will see the return of netminder Tuukka Rask, who took a few days away from the team for a personal leave.

In corresponding moves, Dan Vlader is on his way back to the Providence Bruins while Jakub Zboril will be recalled. Additionally, the team officially announced that both Jeremy Lauzon and Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson will stay on regular recall.

Bruins’ Torey Krug Out With Ankle Injury, Re-Evaluated in 3 Weeks

Boston Bruins defenseman Torey Krug suffered a left ankle injury that has put him in a walking boot and he will be re-evaluated after three weeks, according to Bruins general manager Don Sweeney, who announced the news on Monday.

While Sweeney did not provide any further details regarding the injury, it’s worth noting that Krug fractured the same ankle during the Bruins’ second round Stanley Cup playoff series against the Tampa Bay Lightning last season.

Krug, 27, poured in 59 points last season.
