Blackhawks Waive Tanner Kero

The Chicago Blackhawks have waived both Tanner Kero, according to Scott Powers of The Athletic.

Kero has been a healthy scratch for the majority of the season, registering only three points in eight games for Chicago this season.

Chicago has  lost five straight games and has dropped to sixth in the Central Division.

Kero’s release comes as a bit of a surprise as he was a contributor to Chicago last season, scoring 16 points in 47 games.

Blackhawks’ Connor Murphy To Miss Eight Weeks

Chicago Blackhawks’ defenseman Connor Murphy will miss around eight weeks, or more, due to a back injury, the team announced on Wednesday.

Murphy will be off the ice for six weeks, and will undergo further testing to determine if it is appropriate to ramp up his physical activity, or if he will need four additional weeks of rest, putting his total possible timeline at 8-12 weeks.

Blackhawks’ Ivan Nalimov Rescinds Trade Request

Chicago Blackhawks’ goalie prospect Ivan Nalimov has rescinded that trade request after speaking with Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman, and is now focused on spending the 2018-19 season playing overseas in the KHL, according to The Athletic’s Scott Powers.

Nalimov requested for his rights to be traded despite not even having a contract with the Blackhawks, in the hopes of getting playing time in North America, as Chicago has Corey Crawford, Anton Forsberg and Cam Ward on their roster.

Nalimov will play for Kunlun Red Star this season.
