Islanders’ John Tavares Willing To Negotiate During Regular Season

New York Islanders captain John Tavares is heading into the 2017-2018 regular season eligible to become an unrestricted free agent in 2018.

Tavares would like to remain in New York and the Islanders would like to keep him around, so Tavares is willing to negotiate terms of a new deal during the regular season, according to NHL.com’s Brian Compton.

This gives both sides much more time to get a new, long-term deal completed that will see the face of the Islanders franchise stay in New York for years to come.
