Steve Yzerman Steps Down as General Manager of Lightning

Steve Yzerman has officially stepped down as the general manager of the Tampa Bay Lightning despite one year remaining on his contract, the team formally announced on Tuesday.

Yzerman will continue to serve as a senior advisor as assistant general manager Julien BriseBois will take over his role. Yzerman has served in the role for eight years, winning the General Manager of the Year Award during the 2014-15 season.
