The New York Rangers will be in the market for a new head coach this offseason after firing Alain Vigneault after ending their season with a loss to the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday night.
The Rangers finished with an underwhelming 34-39-9 record and have missed the playoffs for the first time since the 2009-10 season.
The Rangers, who have promised a “reshape” as opposed to a “rebuild”, signed Vigneault to a five-year, $10 million contract by the Rangers on June 21, 2013, and signed him to a two-year contract extension in January 2017.
