Sharks Trade For Sabres’ Evander Kane

The San Jose Sharks have completed a trade with the Buffalo Sabres for veteran forward Evander Kane, who is an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.

San Jose made the move in hopes that they can make a strong playoff push down the stretch.

Buffalo will receive a conditional 1st-round pick in 2019 which kicks in if Kane re-signs with the Sharks. If Kane goes elsewhere in free agency, that pick will become a 2nd rounder.

The Sabres also received a conditional 2020 4th-rounder along with forward prospect Dan O’Regan.

Kane has scored 20 goals and 20 assists in 61 games for Buffalo this season.
