It may be a little early to start talking about the milestone, but it won’t stop the chatter regarding Tampa Bay Lightning’s Nikita Kucherov and his 6-game goal streak.
Kucherov is in rare company, as he is one of only four players to do so in the past 30 seasons, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.
Detroit Red Wings’ legend Steve Yzerman scored a goal in each of the first six games of the season in 1988-89.
St. Louis Blues’ Keith Tkachuk also performed the feat in 2008-09.
The record is held by Pittsburgh Penguins legend and hockey Hall of Famer Mario Lemieux who scored a goal in each of his first 12 games back in the 1992-93, notching a whopping 18 goals during the streak.
It’s a long way to Lemieux’s mark, but Kucherov is already making waves with his impressive play to start the season.
