Flames Could Have Interest In Jaromir Jagr

According to reporter Elliott Friedman, the Calgary Flames could be in the market for free agent Jaromir Jagr, the reporter told NHL Network.

Friedman said that the Flames “kind of looked at” Jagr and there is a connection as Calgary is coached by one of Jagr’s former coaches, Glen Gulutza.

“When I had him … first of all he’s not as fast as he used to be, but below the tops of the circles he is still stronger on the puck than most guys in the League,” Gulutzan said about Jagr last season.

“We clipped some clips, I remember back in Dallas, that we sat and watched as a coaching staff going, ‘Oh my God, how did he even do that?’ … He can score, he can pass, he can do it all … I think that’s what’s allowed him to play. And he has a real passion for the game.”

Jagr scored 46 points (16 goals, 30 assists) in 82 games for the Florida Panthers last season, becoming the second-leading scorer in NHL history behind Wayne Gretzky (2,857-1,914).
